ESDA Lab Presents Three METACITIES Papers at ISVLSI 2025
Researchers from the ESDA Lab of the University of the Peloponnese — a METACITIES partner — successfully presented three research papers at the prestigious ISVLSI 2025 conference, held on 6–9 July in Kalamata, Greece. The papers, all acknowledging METACITIES, demonstrate a growing contribution to advanced cyber-physical systems, wireless communication technologies, and intelligent perception — areas that indirectly reinforce the project’s broader vision of strengthening digital innovation capacity in Southeastern Europe.
The paper “Motion Detection over 5G through Sensing Signal Disturbance Analysis leveraging COTS platform” was presented by Assoc. Prof. Christos Antonopoulos in the special session NextGenWT – Emerging System Design Topics in New Generation Wireless Communication Technologies. The other two papers — “A Novel Firmware Architecture leveraging Race to Sleep paradigm for Ultra-Low-Power CPS” and “Real-Time Person Recognition Using MoveNet for Pose-Based Identification” — were presented in the Student Research Forum by undergraduate student Angelos Smyrilios and postgraduate student George Tefas, respectively, both studying at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the University of the Peloponnese. Notably, both student-led works were nominated among the Top 20 Best Paper Award candidates, following a rigorous evaluation by the Technical Program Committee, showcasing the high caliber of young researchers contributing to METACITIES’ knowledge ecosystem.
