Highlights from the Smart City Expo World Congress 2025
From 4-6 November 2025, the METACITIES project proudly participated in the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) in Barcelona, the world’s leading event for urban innovation.
📍 At Booth F94, Hall 3, visitors had the opportunity to explore how METACITIES is advancing the next generation of intelligent, connected, and sustainable urban ecosystems.
A major highlight of our participation was the session organised by METACITIES, titled “AI Spatial Avatars for Metacities”, held on 6 November (15:10–15:55) at the Tech X Cities Stage.
The session delved into how Spatial AI, Extended Reality (XR), and future avatars are redefining how we experience, interact with, and design our cities. Speakers agreed that 6G, metaverse standardisation, and interoperability play a pivotal role in overcoming the Integration Challenge and enabling seamless digital urban transformation.
The panel was moderated by Marios Nicolaou (Business Development Director, p-NET) and featured distinguished experts:
Albena Mihovska, CTO, SmartAvatar
Dhananjay Lal, VP Advanced R&D, Adeia
Dan Isaacs, CTO, Digital Twin Consortium
