METACITIES at BalkanCom 2025 “Empowering Connections, Enabling Innovation”
From June 17–20, 2025, the University of Piraeus hosted the 8th International Balkan Conference on Communications and Networking (BalkanCom 2025) under the theme “Balkans without Borders.” The event served as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and regional collaboration in the fields of communications, connectivity, and digital innovation.
As part of the programme, the Greek Cluster of the METACITIES Excellence Hub co-organized the special session “Digital Technologies for Future Cities,” chaired by Prof. Spyros Denazis. The session explored how advanced digital tools can drive urban transformation and resilience.
During the session, Assoc. Prof. Tanya Politi presented the METACITIES vision for digitally enabled urban ecosystems. Her presentation highlighted how technologies such as digital twins, IoT, and immersive platforms can shape more connected, intelligent, and sustainable cities.
We extend our sincere thanks to the BalkanCom 2025 organizers for an inspiring and successful event!
