METACITIES at Researchers’ Night 2026 in Patras
How can a city explore the impact of tomorrow’s mobility decisions before they become reality?
At Researchers’ Night 2026 in Patras, visitors experienced the Patras Mobility Digital Twin, developed within the METACITIES Excellence Hub, and discovered how Digital Twin technologies can support smarter, safer and more sustainable cities.
Under the theme “Discovering the Meta-City: Mobility, Safety and Artificial Intelligence,” participants explored a dynamic 3D representation of Patras through interactive demonstrations, integrating real-world data on public transport, traffic flows, parking and urban infrastructure.
The demonstration showed how different mobility scenarios can be explored and assessed virtually, supporting more informed urban planning and decision-making.
The activity was presented by the University of Patras, together with the Road Safety Institute.
A great opportunity to bring research closer to citizens and demonstrate how Digital Twins can help shape safer, more resilient and citizen-centred cities.
