METACITIES at the IEEE International Smart Cities Conference 2025
The METACITIES Excellence Hub participated in the flagship IEEE International Smart Cities Conference (ISC2 2025),the leading global event for Smart Cities, sponsored by the IEEE Smart Cities Community and the IEEE Power & Energy Society. The 11th edition of ISC2 was held this week in Patras, Greece, bringing together researchers, innovators, and city leaders from around the world.
METACITIES was actively represented through paper presentations, tutorial sessions, and panel discussions.
In the tutorial “Hands-on session with Greek Smart Cities platforms,” Ioannis Tsampras, Tanya Politi, and Spyros Denazis (University of Patras) presented “Time Series Analysis with Smart City Data from the Greek Smart Cities Ecosystem,” showcasing the use of NGSI-LD brokers and data-driven forecasting within federated smart city environments.
Dr. Politi also joined the panel “Navigating the Future of Smart Cities: Towards Sustainability, Resilience and Participation,” alongside Prof. Panos Fitsilis, Dr. Asterios Leonidis, Dr. Amin Anjomshoaa, Prof. Paraskevi Tsoutsa, and Prof. Ioannis Chatzigiannakis (Moderator), discussing the future of sustainable, participatory, and digitally connected urban ecosystems.
