METACITIES at the XCity Future Cities Forum
On 29 May, ICT Cluster, a partner of the METACITIES project, moderated the opening panel of the second day of the XCity Future Cities Forum, titled “Partnerships for Sustainable Urban Development.”
Moderated by Christina Todorova, Technical Program Manager at ICT Cluster and member of the METACITIES Excellence Hub in South-Eastern Europe, the panel explored how collaboration, access to expertise, and innovative technologies can support municipalities in their digital transformation journey.
The discussion brought together representatives from local government, academia, and the innovation ecosystem, including Donka Mihaylova (Municipality of Troyan), Prof. Dr. Eng. Agata Manolova (Technical University of Sofia), Gerassim Slavov (InnovationAmp), Nikolay Raykovski (Municipality of Troyan), and Svetoslav Kolev (Municipality of Stara Zagora).
A key message from the panel was that the challenges cities face today, from funding and expertise to innovation and sustainability, cannot be addressed by a single organisation alone. Strong partnerships and collaborative innovation ecosystems are essential for building smarter, more resilient, and sustainable cities.
