METACITIES Showcased at the Political Bureau of the Intermediterranean Commission in Bari
The METACITIES project was proudly presented on March 27, 2025, during the Political Bureau of the Intermediterranean Commission (CPMR-IMC) held in Bari, Italy.
During the Political Bureau, Mr. Fokion Zaimis, Deputy Regional Governor of Achaia and President of the CPMR Balkans & Black Sea Commission, talked about the EU-funded projects in which the Region of Western Greece is involved. He highlighted how such initiatives promote knowledge exchange between regional authorities, while also fostering new opportunities for cooperation and funding across shared areas of interest.
Ms. Angeliki Kostopoulou, member of the METACITIES project team, presented the project’s key objectives and introduced the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between three EU-funded projects, including METACITIES, during the 5G Techritory Forum in Riga, Latvia, in October 2024. The MoU supports the exchange of expertise and promotes cutting-edge technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Extended Reality (XR), Virtual Reality (VR), the Metaverse, and Digital Twins.
Ms. Kostopoulou also extended an open invitation to all members of the Intermediterranean Commission and CPMR to join the MoU, which remains open to all interested regions eager to collaborate in shaping the cities and regions of the future.
