The METACITIES project is proud to have supported the IEEE WCNC 2024 Workshop on 6G for Connected and Immersive Intelligence, held on April 12, 2024, in Dubai, UAE. Organised by our consortium partner SmartAvatar and chaired by Dr. Albena Mihovska, the workshop brought together leading researchers and innovators to explore next-generation 6G technologies aligned with the METACITIES vision.

Endorsed by both One6G Association and METACITIES, the workshop focused on advancing research in support of the IMT-2030 usage scenarios, including:

• Immersive, massive, and ultra-reliable low-latency communications

• Coverage extension for ubiquitous connectivity

• Service innovation beyond traditional communication

This initiative directly contributes to METACITIES’ mission of enabling intelligent, inclusive, and immersive urban ecosystems through cutting-edge research and cross-sectoral collaboration. The workshop served as a valuable forum for exchanging ideas and identifying future directions for 6G-enabled services, with a particular emphasis on digital twins, the metaverse, and AI-powered infrastructures.

Topics explored included:

• Ultra-low-latency and green communications

• Integrated sensing, AI, and networking

• Digital twin modeling and immersive rendering

• Zero-trust security for 6G-enabled applications

• Computing over mobile and edge devices

• Quality of experience for intelligent, connected environments

• Metaverse use cases in sectors such as healthcare, education, transportation, and industry

• AI/ML and federated learning for immersive connectivity
